I started Tenofovir as part of an HIV treatment combination and didn’t notice a dramatic change in how I felt. There was a little tiredness at first, but it was difficult to separate that from everything else going on at the time. After a few weeks my routine felt completely normal again. I actually prefer medication experiences that are boring, and this has been fairly boring in the best possible way.

Thankfully that improved rather than carrying on indefinitely. Once things settled, the medication became much easier to live with. I’m pleased I mentioned the symptoms at my appointments instead of quietly worrying about them.

I’ve found Tenofovir quite manageable. For the first week my stomach seemed determined to complain about everything I ate, although it was never severe. That eventually passed and my appetite returned to normal. I haven’t had any major issues since, and regular monitoring gives me some reassurance.
